Fire is still a top build. You can barely feel the flame wave nerf at any gear level. No more free infinity is probably good for the long term health of the game.

reading the patch notes suggests that if u bind it, presumable he will be bound to u in the game with conviction, but next game he gets rerolled to one of the available auras. is that what happens?

Removed Conviction Aura, Holy Fire Aura, Holy Lightning Aura, Blessed Aim Aura, and Might Aura from possible pool. When these roll they are now replaced with Fanaticism, Vigor, Thorns, Concentration. Holy Freeze can still roll on a bound demon

Bind demon at level 20 rolls random aura, this reads to me that if you can no longer get conviction from the random aura roll. It doesn’t say you can bind conviction but it will change when you enter a new game. This reads to me that the auras in the aura pool have changed. It’s worded very poorly imo.

I agree it is poorly worded. "Roll" implies some type of RNG, and if an aura already exists, there should not be an additional "roll." However, if you try to use their low-IQ syntax, "roll" seems to mean like when you leave/rejoin a game, it will "Roll" an aura. So if ur demon has convic, it will "roll" into an allowed aura. If you have holy freeze, it can still "roll" into holy freeze again. Also, I assume if you bind a demon without an aura, and you have lvl 20, when you leave/rejoin it "rolls" a random allowed aura. Is that what happens?

Well, you won't be doing that in starter gear. The overall cost of this patch is itemization.

All I know is when I bound a demon with conviction it re rolled into fanat when I entered a new game, haven’t tried anything else yet

at least HF still exists and can reliably cast amp if the monster group is sufficiently large. Too bad that without the amp, echo does less dmg than bowazon multishot
