Horrible optics, but on the substance, it is the right thing to do. The US obviously cannot allow Iran to seize unilateral control over the Strait of Hormus, allowing through the tankers of allied nations like China while blocking passage of oil intended for America's allies. Nor can they allow Iran to have the ability to choke off the global economy at will from now on. Neither can the Arab Gulf states, btw.

Ultimately, a military clash between the US Navy and Iran for control over the Strait is inevitable if you ask me. Which carries great risk, both militarily and also politically. Further military escalation is the last thing Trump needs right now, but the current situation is clearly untenable in the long run. Trump has really maneuvered himself into a position in which all remaining options are shitty. He's trying to cut off Iran's "selective opening of the Strait"-gambit, which is imho just a desperate and misguided last-ditch effort at making them properly reopen the passage without having to resort to full-blown naval warfare.

It's disappointing to see people use this forum as a way to express their politics beliefs by wishing death on an entire religion.
If you can't summon up the braincells to make arguments that doesn't call for mass murder against innocent people, then i think it's better if you don't post anything.
