I was reading how to figure out a level requirement based off the prefixes/suffixes that spawn on a given item. Arreat Summit says that the level requirement is 75% of the highest affix on the item.

"Item Level Requirements
When items list a Level Requirement, the number listed is 75% of the highest prefix or suffix level (as shown on this page) on the item. For example, a weapon with a Meteoric(27) as the highest prefix (or suffix) would have a level requirement of 20. Rare Items do not list the magic prefixes and suffixes by name so you will have to figure out based on their stats what magic prefixes and suffixes are being used."

I went to look to see affixes would spawn on the items in the area I'm currently farming in and found a jewel in my stash that caught my eye.



The Jewel Magic Prefixes And Suffixes show that the Vermillion prefix has an affix level of 58 and the Fervor has an affix level of 39; the required level of the item would be calculated off the Vermillion affix, according to Arreat Summit.

So 75% of 58 is 43.5, and since the game rounds down; the required required level would be 43.

As you can see the required level of a Vermillion Jewel of Fervor is 50.

Why is the required level in this jewel 50, when it should be 43?

ya arreats is mixing up ilvl and affix level for its req lvl calculations

in general its not the greatest resource when diving into mechanics below the surface

As you can see and confirm no matter where you'll look, your numbers were already correct.
BUT, the level requirement being 75% of the alvl value is not always true.
There are many exceptions, where the required level is simply hardcoded and overriding this basic rule.
So many exceptions that it's better to just refer to affix charts rather than try to memorize all of them (unless you are some kind of Rain Man).
And even those who follow this "75% of the alvl" are still messy, cuz some of them are rounded down, others are rounded up.
