Reserve, meaning the minimum they will sell for

Euro only term. Means reserve, and yes, it's the lowest they will sell it for.

Usually they set the FT (euro term for "for trade" or "fast trade", aka dumb version of BIN) which is like 50% above what they actually want for the item and then they set the "res" as the actual price.

Yep, and it's actually kinda a scummy trading technique imo. Because I've seen instances where someone will bid the reserve, and the OP will continue bumping for days just hoping to squeeze out a bit more fg. On American realms there's just one price... The BIN which means... Buy it NOW—no more bumping. But I assume euro players are so used to the res/FT model they don't even think about this anymore.

it's not like seller is obliged to sell you anything. It's just a trade listing, seller can change his mind at any time until the deal is done. Don't see anything scummy about it

I knew someone would say that. Then why do euros list it as a "reserve" price as in, "I'm reserving this item for you" unless someone comes in right away to do my BIN price.

Yes, it's scummy. It's the same thing supermarkets do. Pretend an item is "marked down" to a lower price with the res, but that's actually just your real price.

I never said it was awful or anything, just some euros are scummy about it, not all euros.

there's a difference between a private listing and and a supermarket doing business IMO, shouldn't be held to the same standard. Haven't you've been in this situation - you put an item for sale, only to realise the BIN set too low? it's only fair to change your mind and increase it.

No, I've never been in that situation. If I fucked up I just honor the trade.

Also, your example doesn't work for the simple reason if the "bin is too low" then what was the point of the reserve and "ft" prices. (don't use BIN when discussing euros, they rarely use that term). I never said they're obligated to sell the item. They're not in trouble if they don't. But pretending to have two different prices, one where it's marked down (when it really isn't) is just deceiving potential buyers. Again, not against the rules, again not every euro does this; but I've seen plenty of examples that do.

The bid/BIN system works 1000x better than the bid/res/ft system.
