afaik no, he is not using that. he has free reign to do what he wants up until the mid terms. the more "questionable" "stuff" he does between now and then is likely to result in more "severe" (a relative term) repercussions.

reports of straight closing again in response to the Israeli attacks in Lebanon. im sure Palantir sensed that someone farted in a mud hut and they perceived it as a treat. no choice really other than to violate a ceasefire for land, i mean safety, its definitely all about safety.

So to be clear. A cease fire between the US/Israel and Iran was announced yesterday, which came in to force today. This, as i understand it means:

Iran will not strike Israel, or US military bases in the region, but it is "allowed" to strike other countries.
The US and Israel will not strike Iran, but Israel will strike anything other then Iran (i.e. Lebanon).

As an example, Israel killed over 100 ppl in Lebanon today, with a further 700+ injured, and 1500+ in the last month.
Iran is reported to have killed 25 in the last month across multiple countries, and a further 13 in Israel.

essentially yes, but a ceasefire is always tentative and it's not a perfectly spelled out legal document. for all intents an purposes Iran's proxies in Lebanon and elsewhere are their version of military bases. Israel loves to talk about how Hezbollah are Iranian puppets who act on direct order from Iran to hurt Israel. Then during a ceasefire Israel struck them and said "well its not Iran so they're not covered". so when they want to justify strikes on Iran they say Hezbollah = Iran, but when they want to justify strikes on Lebanon they say Hezbollah =/= Iran.

basically Israel purposefully screwed up the ceasefire, and for Iran they dont even need to send missiles, they can just announce the straight is once again closed and resume charging a toll. the USA drastically turned down strikes to try and negotiate a ceasefire, Trump's tweet was a threat to resume attacks not continue them. we're basically reset to a few days ago.

It was simply not credible that Iran killed 40,000 of its own people over 24 hours of unrest earlier this year (as part of US backed attempt to overthrow the ruling government). Iran would have needed to machine gun entire marches, which is not what happened. I mean the US was already winning when Iran admitted that 3000+ protestors were killed, there was no need for the US to claim 40,000 as no-one of sound mind over the age of 12 would believe such a number.

Also, the whole narrative of "You killed your own people, so now we are going to Bomb you (and your people)" is a bit daft.

Iran and the US/Israel side disagree on whether the ceasefire deal included a pause on attacks against Hezbollah or not. Like snipa said, they probably didn't explicitly spell it out, so there's room for interpretation.

In the end, the success or failure of such ceasefires is typically determined by the stance of the belligerents: do they actually want peace, or do they not? I think it's safe to assume that none of the three sides in this conflict actually wants peace - but a little pause would have served the US and Iran well, to regroup and replenish, whereas Israel doesn't want to stop its momentum in Lebanon.
