"I know that sobriety isn't for everyone and in no way do I mean to come across as preachy or trying to push my way of life on others"

Love this part. Wish everyone had this mindset about their opinions. Religious folk mostly

E/ also GG wish I could find the same sober love you got

I think it's better to be able to drink while keeping things in control. If you can't control yourself while drinking then it's definitely best to stay away from it. But being able to consume it and stay sane, that's the best.

The entire sociological system and market is built around over consumption, just look at all the new seltzers and drinks and the alcohol percentage, even Sunny D has an alcoholic version of the nostalgic drink millenials had as kids. It's a health issue too

A heartfelt congrats to all who are committed to and keeping to their physical and mental health goals. I know it's not easy as there are moments where our vices are literally tackling us hoping that we'll fail.  I do not think that breaking an addiction gets easier, I think our bodies get healthier.

Many failed attempts at sobriety from hard drugs. Currently around 6 weeks sober which is the longest stint I’ve had in a long time.

I truly wish I could go enjoy a few beers with friends etc to watch sport or go out for dinner etc.

Unfortunately I’m on the other end where if I drink it leads to other things and generally turns into a 16-48 hour spiral.

Very jealous

@OP Congtats on your guild and sobriety. Stay strong!

I'm sorry to hear that but also not sorry to hear that you've gone 6 weeks sober. I haven't done that since I've started drinking 15 or so years ago. Longest I went was like 3 weeks and went back. But when I drink I don't get crazy or violent or anything.

The entire sociological system and market is built around over consumption, just look at all the new seltzers and drinks and the alcohol percentage, even Sunny D has an alcoholic version of the nostalgic drink millenials had as kids. It's a health issue too

My main concern for myself is the health aspect. I know it's not good for me and will eventually kill me if I keep on my path, but I'm just glad it's not like socially destructive for me. It's not destroying my job or my home life or anything. But with so many variations of alcohol, it is extremely hard to quit/ slow down.
