I'm having some odd connectivity issues... On d2 classic, if I try to connect to USEast it loads for a few seconds then say you have been disconnected from battle net (Not the usual unable to connect error we've all seen), but if I change my IP I can connect to Asia, Europe and west just fine no issues... But the second I try connecting to USEast again, I get the same error and then I can't connect to any realm again.

I also downloaded a simple chat bot I knew worked and when I changed my IP, using the same key I have installed on D2 (but using the original 16 bit version), I can connect to USEast just fine and do whatever... But the second I try it on the d2 client using the 26bit install, boom, banned from battle net.

My question is, can you still install D2 from the discs or downloaded ISO and connect with a 16 bit keys like that? I think it'll fix my issue.

Turns out they disabled all 16 bit keys from playing online apparently... At least with the d2 client itself.



This is the exact error I get. It started happening 2 weeks ago when I got temp banned for switching games too fast. Figured it would be a 24-48hr ban and it would be fine. I didn't feel like waiting and I changed my IP... Now whenever I connect to east, it triggers a ban on all realms. But I can connect to the other 3 realms just fine after changing my IP, just not east.

Also, a popular common chat bot that is used to announce games and talk in channels and stuff (not posting the exact name to not break the rules) lets me connect to USEast using the SAME key that's installed on D2 just fine, but I'm using the 16 bit version of the key. I can't explain this weird restriction.

Guess I just need a new key, huh?

USEast isn't my main realm (Europe is) but I still have some gear on USEast that I'd like to not expire.

Used to be able to register your 16 keys to your battenet to get 26

Yeah, right now how I have it setup is I converted my 16 bit key to a 26bit key and installed D2 from blizzard site and could play fine, but after that one temp ban and IP change, now it won't let me play USEast on any IP.

I'm almost convinced to just buy another classic key for $5.99 or whatever from one of those 3rd party sites just to test. But I'd prefer just to fix my own diablo 2 with my own key.

Best thing, would be to contact blizzard support, ask them direct to check you key status, it could be a long temporary ban on the key. They could tell you everything from your key details

Yeah, I just get a random AI response that has nothing to do with what I asked them.

Guess I'll just buy a new key lol.
