I've seen two posts from you... no offense (really dont mean it like that): Diablo 3 has this and may be you would enjoy it more? Personally, I think d3 is an arcade game. I've heard that D4 is kind of D3R as d2r is d2Lod's remaster. Anyways... yea d3 wasn't the worst game, but it seems to hit a different audience. No offense, D3 sucks balls from someone coming form a D2/D2R background. I couldn't play more than 30min due to the cancer induced by the WoW inspired greenish/moldish graphics. You walk around like some kind of a darkstalkers game. They should've called that game Darkstalkers Zero or something and not diablo. Have I said the atmosphere was also cartoonisch and happy go lucky in the so called diabloverse?
Different people have different tastes. D4 for example has got elements from D3 and D2 but it feels dark, the graphics are alright and it doesn't turn into arcade screen blaster like PoE or D3. I quite like it for a season or 2.

Don't tell that he's a huge fan and would actually love to discuss it with you.

He can discuss with Blizzard. Blizzard cares about D3 like a stepmom would about an unbeloved stepchild. No warlock, not even controller support for PC They get recycled seasons over and over.

If blizzard wasn't such a pathetically tiny, puny indie company with only 1 dev to their name, then they could actually be intelligent and close down diablo 4, and hire back all of the old Blizzard North staff with huge pay increases and tell them to make a REAL new D2 expansion.

D2 expansion for whom? We live in a different time, D2 would hit different nowadays, back then it was the pinnacle of arpg gaming because we didn't have anything better on our potato pcs by todays' standards. D2 expansion audience would be exactly people playing from D2R at the moment (I expect one anyways after the woke success). Blizzard North staff from back then created Torchlicht and other games, they weren't good enough. D4 is the modern take where old and new gen players meet each other. They should introduce more and more D2 elements into D4 gradually (mainly itemization), that's the smarter way to keep the old guard and the brocolli heads happy
D3 is burried deeply and should rest in peace.

D3 isn't even part of the conversation, my post was obviously a joke. Everyone knows d3 is a 3/10 extremely repetitive, unfun infinite grind with no meaningful progression.

They have 0.00% chance of making D4 good. D4 is actually even worse than d3 and that's a pretty high bar set in terms of crappiness. And Blizzard North devs are great devs when they worked together and weren't split up like they were further on down the line. The old Blizzard North games are incredible actually. Diablo 1, 2 (which are both 10/10) and justice league game for the Genesis which is extremely fun too. The devs aren't the issue. They were talented. Dont forget devs from StarCraft/Broodwar and Warcraft 1/2 also transferred over to be on diablo 2 team. They had real talent working there who were actually compassionate gamers. Now devs aren't gamers or fans. They're only there to make sure the shareholders are happy.

Maybe they might be washed up now with old age, but let's say they never stopped developing d2, it would surely be even better today. Now, if ActiVision Blizzard Entertainment (which is NOT Blizzard North) keeps adding onto d2r with D4 features, they will split up their player base into small little groups, because eventually their core playerbase will refuse to play whatever newest expansion and the only people playing it will be the returning players/noobs/botters.

D2r new expansion would be nice with a good dev team, but yeah, ActiVision Blizzard Entertainment could never give us anything as great as Lord of Destruction.
