Can you try turning off the nvidia overlay and see if that helps?

confirming the gaming is running on the RTX 5070Ti

you may have to downgrade the driver then to the version from January 2026 or wait for new upgrade of drivers.

Install Windows 22h2 instead of your current version.

I only need 420fg for this info not 500.

Hey!

So I got myself a new laptop. (solid setup)

I installed windows 11, updated drivers etc.
Installed Battle Net and D2Rotw.
Installed Direct X and VCRedist 64/86.

At first when I launched D2 from BNET launcher, the game would let me get into character selection but the characters would look frozen and standing very weird.
I googled my way and ended up reinstalling the game.

Now the character screen looks fine but once I get in a game, it feels like video settings are totally off.
Game crashes after just a few seconds/minutes max.

I'm quite lost, I've tried troubleshooting but just can't get it to work out..

If you can help me solve this I'll tip up to 500 fg depending on what we need to do

ty in advance!!!

EDIT:
> Also, the launcher feels laggy, i see the "press any key to begin" but rest of the screen is black when launching game
> Holding a key at that screen works and logs me into character selection
> AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D - RTX 5070 Ti - 32 Go RAM - SSD 2 To - Windows 11
>Error code is "an unexpected issue happened"

I had the same issue , all i did is just reinstalled windows and wiped everything , and now game works just fine

0. uninstall diablo and battlenet and also delete your settings folder beforehand (its in Documents - Diablo II folder)
1. download drivers:
a) nvidia latest graphics from nvidia website and then
b ) from AMD website ~> support ~> drivers ~> chipset - whatever motherboard chipset you have select that and download latest chipset
c) internal gpu drivers same amd website place but this time type - 9800x3d - you can use the auto detect or the actual driver, both work fine from my experience - that way you will install **LATER** graphics drivers for your internal GPU so windows wont be a bit** and install whatever it likes that screws a lot of things on several PCs I've made this year
2. uninstall chipset drivers with revo uninstaller(important to use that as it deeply cleans it + registry and all the crap) - if you need help with this step DM me
4. There is also an option in system advanced system settings - select hardware - device installation settings - no to that crap
5. download DDU if you havent already - go into safe mode and uninstall ALL gpu drivers but make sure in options you prevent windows from installing drivers its at the bottom - after that you uninstall all remove safe mode and go back into normal desktop
6. now is the time to install all drivers starting from a) AMD chipset -> then b ) internal graphics ~> then c) Nvidia drivers
7. install battle net and diablo
8. if its still not working properly - try running without discord and other launchers and softwares like RGB software, gigabyte or asus or whatever software, without steam running and etc - basically stop everything and see if it changes anything then 1 by 1 see whats the culprit, if you find which software is giving you problems its easy to touch some settings and see what does the job in the end

lmk how it goes

P.S. I have very similar setup to yours on windows 11 latest version and I have 0 problems with diablo on latest(595.97) and previous two drivers, except the occasional crashes once every day or two that are common for most people, but thats just d2r being d2r

If you need extra help with any step just PM me
Also DM me to give you a screenshot of all my settings, but basically - touch nothing in Nvidia and manually max everything 1 by 1 in the menu in the game, unless you are running 4k you should have around 200fps without ever feeling any lag or hitch at all

P.S. #2 this fixes a lot of crap for a lot of games and shenanigans created by Windows being a bit**
