I am newb to sin, played it couple of years ago as trapsin and discosin. But since mosaic is not available and I like the idea of combo points and melee, what are some viable builds for current meta to dig in?

I believe regular old kick assassin is still viable, but only for single targets like smite. This might have changed with rotw.

theres kick+trapsin with stormlash + dracs // merc = infinity

Without mosaic around, dragon tail is the best. With all multipliers active you start getting into the damage ranges where it can 1 shot overkill hell diablo
