Tl;dr ...Trust the bible because other people (prophets) trusted the bible....nothing more than appeal to authority.

I don't think you understood the question or intentionally misunderstood it. It was about how do you authenticate which of the 1000's of gods are real (if any)?
If for example you have 1000 gods to choose from, each one asks you to have faith and trust them.

Here are your options:

A. Trust/have faith in all gods equaly?
B. Trust some but not others (need to explain by which other method you made your decision)
C. Don't have faith in any of them until proven otherwise.

Which option did you choose?

C. Don't have faith in any of them until proven otherwise. :)

Just to clarify your question, you are asking me how I login which of the many gods are real...when each of them asked me to have faith and trust them?

Before I answer that, I must know what method of communication they used to tell me to have faith in them?

Let me paint you a picture.
Put yourself in a shoes of non religious person a complete skeptic or someone who never even heard of gods. Now imagine you are invited to go to a market/bazaar and instead of food and crafts each stall has a religion for sale.
There are a 1000 stalls with a representative trying to convince you their is the one and true god/s.
Each one tries to tell you to have faith in their god and each one points to their book telling you to have faith and how wonderful their god is, like you are doing in this thread. So orally and in writing.

Now you as an independent observer walk around from stall to stall have to determine which of the religions are real (if any) and which ones are fake

A. Do you buy into every religion and accept them all real equally?
B. Do you accept some but not others? If so how did you determine which to believe and which not to believe?
C. Or do you say none of you are real until you can prove it. Meaning you cannot rely purely on faith/trust.

I would ask a specific set of questions to see how each stall would answer said question. These aren't random questions but questions based on what is the big idea and how to approach some specific issues.

I would apply their answers and fact check whether it matches the reality of the world today.

Can they answer the Origin of where we came from?
Can they answer ethics of how we should live?
Can they answer meaning and our purpose in life?
Can they answer destiny and where mankind is heading?
Then there's being saved. Saved from what? Then there would be a subset of questions I have at the ready. I do have a couple of questions that none of the other Religions have been able to answer.

All things considered I can filter out which ones are serious based on the answers I was given. Now what if I do come across a stall that can not only answer all of those questions but also what is written matches the reality of the world today?

What if there was a stall that I could not find any fault in, no matter how hard I tried? I look at every aspect, every angle and it holds up every single time. In any given situation I can use the words as a sword. I don't even need to come up with my own ideas if I can know a passage that ascertains to the current situation.

That is how I can filter down the stalls to single digits. Afterall, they must always be prepared to give an answer for the hope they have.

So you are choosing A. believing first and asking them personal philosophical questions to determine if they are real or not later? I thought FIRST you determine if they are real then AFTER you get into "what is my destiny?" questions etc.
This is some strange backwards logic but ill play along.

Each religion can tell you everything you want to hear, what your purpose is, how you should walk talk and even wipe your ass.
All you are doing is taking notes on how to be a slave. Have you already predetermined the answers to your own questions and aligning yourself with one that sounds good? In which case you are shopping with a confirmation bias. What if the god told you to kill children and perform sacrifices and that your purpose is to kill anyone who disagrees with your religion? Are you going to defy the god?

How can you know what your purpose is if 1000 religions give you different answers anyway? How do you know they all aren't bullshitting you?

your pointing out that the process looks like it can be a pain in the azz. for once your not wrong. for me it was kind of a arduous process. i dont know how much stuff i read and viewed. one day i rejected all of it and i was going to go back drinking with out being pestered by all this stuff. then the thought came to my mind. "what about christianity?" and i replied "naw, to plain to boring" then the thought? "your not being thorough if you dont also check christianity" and i was like "you got me there" so i went back to the task. i was astounded by what i learned. lol biblical narrative any thing but plain n boring. what caught a lot of my attention is the stuff that is required of a christian. like forgiving your enemies. i was like "why would i want to do that?" eventually i couldnt deny the word and i repented (conviction of sin is powerful stuff. feels like having ones heart tore out). eventually i even forgave my trespassers. i can still hardly believe it and so i know what the scripture means.
John 20:29
King James Version
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

some christians dont need proof. they just take to it like a duck to water. lol saves them a lot of time and effort.

Then comes the next part, actually interacting with people of those Religions and seeing the stark difference between them. Tell me something. Do you think that Religion should bring about joy and happiness or be a huge burden? You see, humans are very observant. A single person silently observes a married couple and their screaming child.
I have observed how people act and behave generally based on their beliefs. I tell you what, some people are very burdened by their Religion because they are forever working and it is never enough. My Grandma, when she was around, one time forgot to pray one day after praying for 50 Years and she was very gutted and in sorrow. Religion was just a burden to her.
Then I meet and interact with other Christians and see the stark difference. Religion brings about joy and relationships. Christians are much more happier because of their relationship with God. They are the Good Samaritans who go around helping those who are in need. They are changed from within.

This to me is what Religion should be like. It should change you from the inside out and it should not be a burden.
God gave us 2 ears and 2 eyes for a reason. We should be watching and listening twice as much as we should be speaking. I can ask TiStuff what their life was like before they became a Christian and what their life is like now that they are a Christian.
You will be very surprised at the transformation we go through after getting convicted and then realising every sin you have committed is forgiven. Imagine your Trillion Dollar Debt is wiped clean.

Because I don't have to work for my salvation I am no longer living for myself. I am free to focus on other people, such as yourself.

Yes religions are different how does it prove them to be real? Another useless measurement.
Different religious people behave differently let's say one prays standing up and one prays kneeling... in what way does this determine one being real and another fake? Another useless metric
Happiness is purely subjective and there are many people who are happy with their religion. Also how do you know christians are happier than Buddhists for example? Do you have a happiness scanner in your backpocket? What a load of horseshit.

There are plenty of miserable christians doesn't bring you any closer to authenticity. Also how do you know religion should bring "joy to relationships?" This is some predetermined confirmation bias you are trying to fill instead of listening. What if god wants you to suffer you are putting a lot of shoulds onto a god.

You are simply someone who automatically accepted god to be real without any proof and then you went shopping for a god that more closely aligned with your shoulds rather how he actually is (assuming he is real). Essentially you picked one out of 1000 fantasies to worship based on your personal preferences.

Yeah it's called logic. Do you understand the concept of a God? Even the pagans do. Yeah I pray sitting down and standing, depending in the situation. Why do you think my body position matters? The important part is that I'm communicating with God!
Yeah, some people are so happy that they would beat their wives or become a suicide bomber to harm others. Is that something you would gladly join? I've spoken with both types and have seen the stark difference. I've also seen how the Buddhist reacts surprised at how happy we Christians are. A happiness scanner? Yeah, I call them eyes and ears.

You are simply someone who automatically denied God to be real without any proof and then you went shopping at the Bart Ehrman store that is more closely aligned with your lack of knowledge rather how he actually is. Essentially you picked delusion over knowledge and picked a lie over the truth to worship based on your personal preferences...Trump Supporter.
