Unfortunately

There was no one who gave the answer we were looking for

Admittedly, this question was not easy and is very tricky.

Many people had good answers and stated true facts but the question was what is the MOST units a player can have in a regular game of StarCraft Brood wars - What is the population capacity/limit at its maximum for standard game for one player.



People noted:

you can do exploits such as larva cancel to go over,

Overlords don't count so you can have hundreds (this is true but as they said - they don't count towards the population limit)

On games that are custom or 'use map settings' you can have 1700 or more units. The population cap is set at the standard and goes over.

As stated the question did not include exploits, cheats, glitches or custom settings.


Here's the answer:

A players unit cap is always 200



But



A player who starts playing as protoss can do something special

Protoss can make a dark archon and *mind control* other players units
(There is theoretically no limit to how many you can mind control)
But the fact you can mind control more than the population limit does not change the unit population limit



Unless....



You mind control a SCv and a Drone and build a command center and a layer

When you build these you will get another 200 limit for each of the other races

200 protoss
200 zerg
200 terrnan

Yea but zerglings spawn 2x per 1 unit count. So you don't have 200 zerg units...you have 400 zerg.
