There are 3 different sources of ‘crit’.
Deadly strike (DS)
Critical Strike (CS) the amazon skill
Bonus crit from weapon masteries (MCS), those include the 6 on barb, claw mastery, levitation mastery
They don’t stack like you think they do.
Two sources:
100 - (100 - CS)*(100 - DS)/100
100 - (100 - CS)*(100 - MCS)/100
100 - (100 - DS)*(100 - MCS)/100
Three sources (also valid for any number of sources):
100 - (100 - CS)*(100 - DS)*(100 - MCS)/10000
It’s not because they’re both called ‘crit’ that they stack additively.
And also, CS is an oskill. It’s not just a flat +6, it’s increased by +all skills.
That said… I didn’t read 99% of what you both guys argued about, but I had to inform you that your attempt at a comparison between insight and arioc was hilarious. Not the same skill points distribution, not the same fcr, and I’m sure that you can understand how pointless it is to compare 2 items on a naked char with cheated numbers. The thing is that all other gear around is also different when you try to optimize both setups.
Arioc is resulting in the highest possible dps among all min/maxed 125fcr setups.
Is it BiS? No lol
The whole point of this thread was to acknowledge that trying to achieve higher dps is useless when you already reach overkill dmg with just about any option. What this build needs from the weapon slot is basically anything else but flat dmg.
Here’s a checklist of what’s good to get from the weapon slot:
Meditation
Fcr
+skills
Crit/DS
Leech
Defensive stats
+xp%
Arioc only checks 2 of those.
Insight checks 3
Obsession checks 3
Ondals checks 3
Fort checks 3
Doom checks 2
BotD checks 1
Among the 4 options that checks 3, it would be hard to determine which one is really the best.
They all require building differently to optimize around your weapon choice… and then we can’t really compare the different aspect they all bring to the table… we can’t quantify QoL vs survivability vs flexibility etc.
We could even argue that Arioc checks a ‘3rd’ point if we include merc survivability (by giving him insight instead of pride, while still maintaining nearly as much dps as self-wield insight+pride).
So, if you have unlimited budget, in the end it’s only a question of preference. The build is broken, it would be stupid to not prioritize QoL over anything else.
But if you don’t have unlimited budget?
Then there is a clear winner.
Insight.
Highest QoL, and optimizing around this option is cheaper than optimizing around any other choice.
Same answer as I always give. Just tired of posting it over and over.
If you want to masturbate on big numbers, arioc is there.
If you want a good overall pvm build: insight/obsession/ondals (fort ain't bad either, just more expensive and won't be better)
Best cookie cutter: insight
Non-sarcastic reply just chipping in to say I think you are absolutely right.
