im far from an imperialist but no other nation should get the petrodollar. their economies and markets are too volatile. The USA is the only nation with a stable enough economy to smooth our fluctuations and correct itself. in times like this imagine if not only the price was wildly fluctuating, but the underlying currency was also fluctuating. the shock to the market would be too much to bear. i hate quantitative easing, but it does stable out the currency. it's always slowly inflating, same as the market, same as the economy.

I think it was invented by this German dude that applied it on Japan during the 90s.

Here it is.

that's correct, it was something that was created to avoid a disaster in Japan. Largely because Japan had an issue with it's currency leaving the island while also trying to maintain a stable supply. Japanese investors chose to invest in real estate abroad, rather than buy expensive real estate in crowded areas like Tokyo.

but like many magic pills the issue isn't that it's used, but overused. It's now in the USA being used to not avoid depressions, or recover from recessions, but to avoid recessions altogether. They're so scared the stock market will make a prolonged correction that they've inflated the currency to wild levels where 90 cents on every dollar end up in the hands of the top 5% of earners. It's trickle up economics.

To any locals in AU, how is the fuel and food situation right now? Please let us know in this thread if there are any noticeable shortages or limits.

a lot, but we also have a somewhat stable imports vs exports ratio when compared to Japan. if you're a massive net importer though like Japan is/was it can be a HUGE issue. you need money on hand to import goods or you starve, then money gets scarce, and the currency ratio can't keep up because it's partially based on your total supply and not just how much is liquid.

i know china also massive invests in US and Canadian real estate, they likely want to for political reasons though as much as economic ones. the govt can't seize a property in Vancouver.

Yup, there are those that via the Chinese government arm that does it for political reasons.
That being said, most of them just invest in it because a lot of them still believe that Western Style Education is best for their kids

I have been helping this property group in Manhattan move funds for their Chinese clients because they build like blocks and blocks of upmarket Condos just for the Chinese.
Most of their Kids goes to Columbia or NYU.

It is not the most expensive apartments in NY, but they about 3.5 to 6M USD per unit. I think considering New York's price that is actually slightly above average or average ?
About 700 to 1500 SQ Feet per Unit.

That being said, the Indians and the Punjabis do have political aspiration in the Western Hemisphere especially Canada.
If you notice this interesting trend between the Chinese ( East Asians which also includes the Taiwanese, Hong Kongers and to a certain extent Malaysian and Singaporean Chinese) and the Indians.
The East Asians will actually go back to their " motherland " but the Indians, they come..they will never leave.

The Koreans and Japanese are less likely to stay as compared to the Chinese as I mentioned above. Because they just don't feel familiar with the environment even after decades.
It is harder for the Japs and the Koreans to truly integrate ( Not in a bad way like the Sunni Muslims.) Japs and Koreans still prefer their hometowns.

Hong Kongers , Singaporean and Malaysian Chinese can easily integrate because as you know we are ex colonies and in the Commonwealth. So we are brought up closer and easier to integrate in that sense.
Our Education system is based on British O Levels and A levels.

Try to notice the trend.

oh ya ive 100% noticed. the only thing that i can say i appreciate 100% is that most asian immigrants, whether they're east or west, tend to come here and try and build something if they're staying. businesses, doctors, lawyers, CEOs, etc. But in the USA it seems to be a smaller issue than in Canada where the demographic trends are changing faster.

USA is huge..

But after such a long period of time the demographics is only this. And it is a combination of the entire "Yellow" group.

Chinese Americans: ~5.5 million (largest Asian origin group).
Korean Americans: ~2.0 million.
Japanese Americans: ~1.6 million.
Other East Asian groups: Include significant populations of Taiwanese and Mongolian Americans, though they are often grouped within broader categories in census data.

By the way, these are the ones that holds American Citizenship and passports. The amount that actually stays in the US is a lot lesser since there is dual citizenship.
My mate that holds a US citizenship from Hong Kong, speaks exactly like one. Haven't gone back to the states for longest time. His wife is a Taiwanese American well I call them Taiwanese since they are sensitive about it, works in HK and all their kids who are US citizens pretty much grew up in HK.
They only go back to Norcal to visit relatives or their parents once or twice a year.
