Im making builds that I never made fully before. Cold sorc is one of them, currently lvl50, havnt been able to do testing yet.

This thread is to make it more clear how the following work with cold mastery. I would also approve of any negative resist breakpoints for cold immune mobs.

Infinity conviction aura
Cold rupture Unique Charm (Sunder for cold)
Lower Resist Curse

What I have gained from searches is that you do not need a cold sunder. You do however need an infinity to reach a negative resist on cold immunes, combined with cold mastery... or just to get cold immunes into a negative resist.

Note: It was stated somewhere that Cold Mastery does sunder cold immunes on its own. I cannot confirm or deny yet.
Note2: -100 resists would be the best way to make cold sorc kill faster as the spells are lower damage. However this proves to be difficult with blizzards 1/5 effect after breaking immunities.
Note3: What is the highest cold resist mob? Last thing I read was 210 cold resist?

Cold mastery no longer breaks immunities. Still need a sunder.

lvl57 now

cold mastery is -140

Going to test it in hell, where zombies outside act 1 town are.

Zombies are cold immune with 120 resist.

confirmed, even cold master at -140, zombies are still immune to cold.


After some further research. Uber baal has 185 cold resist. Which means Thats the highest I need to break.

If thats the case we would need -285 to get max cold damage HAHAHAH

forget infinity

use doom runeword + sunder

put 1 point into cold mastery + skills will do the rest assuming u have some gcs anni torch and good gear

you aren't ubering with ur cold sorc so forget uber baal.

it was really imbalanced but thats not fair, this wasn't AI slop.

the stash UI is so much better and makes the game way more enjoyable. literally just ctrl clicking with stash open and its sorted and stacked.

So with Sunder, we only need -100 cold mastery?

Sunder is needed to break basically all cold immunes. On D2R launch anything could break it, that was like 2wks before patched. You want sunder and doom and max cold mastery because the slowest monsters to kill will always be cold immunes. Unless you are target farming areas with no immunes then you can gear for dmg

everyone cried blizz was to good, they nerf hdin nerf blizzard then release mosaic and warlock. now people cry about 90% of players playing warlock. i think d2 community likes crying more then playing
