Do Heralds need an unrendered boss pack to spawn or do they their own counter.

Example, would a herald be able to spawn in the den of evil after corpsefire is spawned?

If I spawn all the boss packs in the game and only then start killing them, would a herald still spawn in said game or not because all the boss monster packs are spawned so they don't have a "place" to spawn?

They wouldn't spawn. They take the place of an elite pack that hasn't been loaded yet.

I have had a Herald spawn before Corpsefire was spawned in Den.
And it did NOT replace Corpse. It was the very beginning of Den and it spawned a Fallen herald.

there are some weird things happening online unless certain room sizes dont spawn enemies all at once as i have had tiles i know were close enough to have monsters be spawned but i had to double back to find the herald in the same room

iirc you have to kill boss packs to get the drawing ire message, once you get it there’s a small chance for any newly loaded monster to become the herald.

I’ll normally leave some shitty areas alone and only tp there to try and spawn the herald faster since so many monsters load in after tp. I have no math or concrete evidence that it’s faster, it just feels faster and that’s what’s important.

They take place of normal monsters not elites or champs iirc
