Phillies making moves

Signed Brad Keller (2 year/ $22M) giving them another strong arm in the pen

Traded Strahm to the Royals in what appears to be a salary dump for Jonathan Bowlan. Likely so they can spend that money elsewhere.

Traded for Kyle Backhus

Bullpen looks very strong, which made Strahm expendable. They have 5 good pen arms right now in Duran/Keller/Alverado/Kerkering/Banks. Then maybe some middle relief from guys like Backhus and so on.

Keller has been ass his entire career. Im glad he got paid, but I dont think he was going to repeat what he was doing for us

Entirely different pitcher after working with Driveline, and of course going in as a relief role. Major mechanical improvements that allowed him to increase his velocity by quite a bit. Phillies just took the Cubs best reliever 😉

A whole lot of red on that savant page. Hard to not like this addition. Phillies have some arms in that pen to set up for Duran. Get to the 6th or 7th with a lead and it'll be tough to beat em.

LFG

MORE ARMS

The Phillies on Tuesday acquired right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for minor league infielder Francisco Loreto.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.

Shugart, 29, made 35 relief appearances for the Pirates last season, going 4-3 with a 3.40 ERA (17 ER, 45.0 IP) and 31 strikeouts to 17 walks. A native of Bridge City, Texas, he held right-handed batters to a .198 average (21-106). Among the 145 National League relievers to throw at least 100 four-seam fastballs, Shugart ranked eighth with a .138 opponent’s batting average (4-29). He was originally selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

BREAKING: Left-hander Jesús Luzardo and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a five-year contract extension, sources tell ESPN. Luzardo, 28, was set to become a free agent after this season. The new deal will begin in 2027 and locks up one of baseball’s best young arms.

5 years, $135 Million

Once Wheeler returns it'll be

Sanchez
Wheeler
Luzardo
Nola
Painter

🔥🔥🔥

If Nola is back to himself, which he looked good in the WBC, we'll be set. Painter looked sharp in ST. Nice rotation. Won't miss Ranger all that much 💪
