The only time I've ever found anything worthwhile in the pits has been on single player. I hate farming there on p1 online. Pointless.

pit is a noob trap

pits is where you go before ppl can farm chaos or baal

pits was good before TZ because it was a consistent lvl 85 zone, not because it had good density

now every area can be lvl 85+ and density is what actually matters, so pits just falls off

you want:
high density
tight packs
fast traversal

chaos, river, tombs, flayer all outperform it for that reason

people saying “i never find anything there” are missing the point, it’s not about the area, it’s about how many mobs you kill per minute

pits is just average now, nothing wrong with it, just inefficient compared to better layouts

the way i laughed. that was exactly my experience with a trav horking barb. the hydras blasted my holes. fortunately i spec’d into portal barb and haven’t had the issue since.

once youre comfy bportaling there really isn’t anywhere you can’t go and farm, such a versatile build

Another noob trap imo. Just like pit. These places aren't very good for p1 farming online. You just never find anything. P8 single player they're great, you find tons of shit. Baal and chaos for online farming. I also like pindle, shenk, bone ash and fire eye and sometimes nith. Mephisto is good for early on when you don't have any items at all.

Obviously TZ flipped this all around and with new shards, it's all different.

I also don't dislike the occasional LK chest run and trav run, but only if I need runes/gold.
