We know the ED/dmg bug exists when this jewel is slotted in an armor slot (like helm). I've seen chatter that it works as expected if socketed into a weapon, but I haven't seen a clear consensus on shields (like Ars Dul'Mephistos).

Does anyone know?

The bug occurs when the ED on the jewel is treated as "off-weapon" ED, which is the case for any non-weapon item.
Cheers.

did a quick test to re-confirm what people have said before, that the ED/min/max glitch doesn't glitch if an off-weapon item already had % ed before adding the jewel, because of the order of affixes
I don't know if the %ed on the jewel works or not, but the %ed on the base item clearly does work and isn't nullified by the jewel or else this barb's damage would be cut to ~1/6:

tldr: works if you socket it in ars meph, doesn't work if you socket it in items that don't already have %ed
/e and didn't show it in video but barb obviously hits for ~1/6 the damage when I took off the shield and attacked, the null case

it seems you might be incorrect - either way my thread is populated with the mixed consensus again heh. At least Goomshill's got a video showcase! Thank you for that.

Jury's still out on if the jewel's ED% is being added here or not

Well i havent tested it myself but ive seen thread where people claim that their char is dealing less damage with the book socketed than with the book unsocketed

also I did a quick test and showed: the % ed on the jewel itself is discarded and has no effect, both on displayed char screen damage and actual damage
its just the %ed on the shield itself that isn't being removed here
so if you socket a 115% ed ars meph with a 50% ed protector's stone, it will display 165% ed and +10-30 damage, but it will actually be 115% ed and +10-30 damage, and the char screen damage will still match what your char actually deals, only the item itself will display wrong

so once again %ed on protector's stone is a pretty irrelevant stat, because it ONLY works when socketed in a weapon

same test as above, just changed jewel to a 500% ed / 1-2 damage jewel. Shield displayed 1000% damage, but my attack damage was still ~450, and I was still dealing about the same % of enemy hp

Yes, i saw that thread. But they were talking about the damage displayed in the character screen, and it would be pretty easy that it is simply lying again.
