I think I've just invented a method to guarantee not eating your demon on accident. In act 2, go to atma and there's a little tavern next to her. In the tavern, there's a bar you can walk behind. Walk outside of it and then walk directly behind the bar. Your demon can't follow you back there. Then summon your consume demon and you don't risk accidentally eating your demon.

I tested this like 30 times in a row just now with a controller lol.

Probably too much effort for most people though. I'm trying to figure out a setup in act 1.

When you start a game you just turn around without moving much. Your demon stays stationary behind you and allows you to consume your goat. Then you can take off running.

If you try and consume while moving you’re pretty much screwed.
