I have not purchased one. Yet, I do have a older Android phone that I may try to install one of their phone distros and see if it runs.
Good luck to anyone who gets bitten to go Linux on their phones!

Been so hyped for one since the Ubuntu Edge fundraiser back in 2013 which unfortunately they raised like $12 mils out of the $34 mils or something like that and never got anywhere...
Got a pinephone few years ago but is not daily driver material, just for some fun tinkering

Nowadays for mobiles however, it's literally all about GrapheneOS, literally no other existing better alternative than that out there
Which security wise, even an Ubuntu phone wouldnt come close to the security on GrapheneOS

The irony for it tho, "gotta buy a google pixel phone to install graphene so it can be degoogled" lol
Well...
Massive massive news on that, fucking finally Graphene will not just be on pixel phones but will also be supported by Motorola
Actual OEM partnership so they can build the device from scratch with all the hardware requirements that until now was possible only on pixels:

oh and if you have an Android or GrapheneOS
Native Debian is already working, no emulation, running alongside android
It's literally in your phone option to turn on (Linux development environment), dont need to install a terminal app, it's already there
And it can run full desktop graphical apps:

well, it has been added since Android 15, so if yours is older than that then it wont have the option

that video is more recent (and run window triple A games), but he does use termux (terminal app thing, more complex setup), but also he says it runs natively too? idk thought the "running natively" was only after android 15 but his video title be like "on ANY android":

so maybe that could work on older androids too but slower, not sure

maybe some day i wont be lazy and actually unbox those phones i got last year and try all that fun stuff, lazy tho lol

That looks so cool and retro! Hah! Go Linux Go! What I hope is that Linux will not be forced to become a spy for governments, for AI/LLM business, nor for marketers. Keep Linux reasonably safe and reasonably anonymous.

right, which on that, idk there's been a lot regarding that whole "age verification" thing, which is literally just meant as a fast boiling the frog for "digital id"

so sadly ill be dropping ubuntu...

Code
https://agelesslinux.org/distros.html

americans been wanting to pass laws to force "age verification" (digital id) for all the computers all over the world
and they been going after linux too...
some distros dont have a spine and just be complying on that
and "systemd" is complying, so since Ubuntu and even Arch are using that systemd thing then yea, gotta say goodbye there i guess...

Artix is very similar to Arch, it uses a different init thing than "systemd" and seems to be getting some positive feedback here and there so i guess that's what ill be moving to for the next time i doing a reinstall on the computer

for phones, GrapheneOS is still chill there, not complying either so thats good
