Hey guys,

just came back to Diablo 2 after a few years and got back into it pretty quickly. Managed to build up a pretty solid Fireball Sorc.

Now I’m starting to look more into endgame farming, especially Chaos Sanctuary, and I’ve noticed that a lot of monsters in Hell are fire immune – which makes things a bit… annoying 😅

So I wanted to ask: what’s currently considered the best Sorc build overall? Especially for things like Terror Zones and CS farming.

Is Fire still viable if you stick to certain areas, or is it basically standard now to switch to Blizzard / Lightning (maybe with Infinity later on)?

What do u think about Nova / ES? And u have maybe a solid example build ?

You can break immunes of all sorts nowadays. So you could lean into that if you felt like it. I'm not actually sure what is the best if you're TZ/CS farming.

Nova is likely to be a bit slower on big monsters with high HP kills, though if you're good on the static you can make a ton of time up on mobs beforehand.
Lightning not as easy clear as nova, but higher single target damage.
Blizzard was good, but they changed how CM works, I'm sure there is a good damage build out there though still.
I have not made a fire sorc since they sunder's started nor their change, but you could sacrifice MF for kill speed with select items if the boost is large enough.

I would suggest nova, work your way to a selfwield infinity and then target 105fcr and 60fhr, with energy shield as main defensive.

Until u get infinity, crescent moon is a good budget alternative together with a spirit monarch.

Basic gear could be
Shako / lore rw / 2 sorc 20fcr with random stats circlet
Vipermagi (30fcr) / stealth rw
Magefist (20fcr)
Arachnid mesh / gheed belt / crafted fcr belt
Random sandstorm treks
Crescent moon crystal sword rw
Spirit shield (35 fcr) rw
Fill up to 105fcr with rings and amulet if needed.
If u dont need these a bad mara/ random 2 sorc or 2 light with some useful stats would work just as well.
Could also go frostburn if u overcap on fcr.

20 static
20 nova
20 light mastery
20 telekenesis
1 warmth
1 cold armor
1 teleport and prereqs
All the rest in Energy shield

Stats =
Str and dex for gear
A bit of vita as long as u have bad to mid gear so u dont die instantly when ES drops
All the rest in energy


Get some plain skillers, a high all res anni, a cheap torch, and a LoD light sunder charm, and you can run CS on like p3 to p5.

i still thicnk lighting sorc the best but cold orb is the most funsies

Cheap = blizzard sorc with cold sunder
expensive = lightning sorc

Nova is a nn at farming Baal unless you don't mind ripping here and there. She is gg at P8 chaos and regular tz though.

I like my light sorc 200 fcr for fast Baal farming now that there are those Statues at stake.
She doesnt do the craziest dmg, could be more, but hitting 200 fcr isnt too hard, and even with a 20 FCR no skill amulet her dmg is fine on P1.
And well, 200 fcr is just so smooth, even at high ping it feels better than 125 FCR Pally, even with those kind of rollback TPs.
Everyone plays Nova and I get why but as stated before she has to go in and might RIP if you dont crush mobs super fast.
Lightning sorc offers this distance to stay alive.

Also tried her on Chaos Seal pops, and once again; 200fcr super comfy for seal pops.
I am thinking about just using her for TZ Bosses not caring about MF and using my high MF char for the other stuff, but thats me expanding on my life.

Imagine, Blizzard sorc is just as fast at seal popping or clearing baal waves. I get the statues before the 30min run out.

Whats your gear ? How do you reach 200 fcr ?

I don't go 200fcr, just 105. My gear is a tal set with +5% facets everywhere and maxed cold mastery with regular sunder. 1-2 cast are enough in P1 to completely delete a wave, doesn't make a difference whether W1 or W5. I think lightning sorc is faster at killing Baal but not by much.
