Agree that it doesn't matter a whole lot. I stick with light armors (you can look this up on diablowiki) to avoid movement/stamina penalty. I go with the one I think looks coolest which for me is usually mageplate, but appearance is different for each class. Strength requirement matters too of course. Don't pick one that requires you to put more points into strength than is necessary.

Okay, thinking Mage Plate - is the enhanced defense a priority? Or nah?

Someone did the repair cost calc. Not that gold really matters so much, but could be gambling money instead. I think regular is fine.

Superior bases are overrated, the added defense is negligible. Regular base with the highest defense you can get your hands on. Best appearance after that. I always stay with the "light" armors since I don't like the inherent frw penalty to heavier armors.
