That's crazy talk. You really want to back the argument that casting death mark (which has a 0.8s cast delay) every engagement isn't a meaningful loss of efficiency compared to... not?

I got stuck with a Fanaticism and within 5 minutes I was thinking what a newb trap it was, immediately went to go find a pulse.


Fanatic/lightning enchanted/cursed. It spreads pretty well but not as consistently as a pulsing elemental aura.

if you go for a medium or small minion like heph or the lancer, maybe pulse isn't that important since they're so fast and aggressively hit and therefore cast amp on the enemies. But if you're doing an urdar or another large minion, the pulse might be nice since they just stay stacked on top of you.

A lot of time you’re teleporting on top of mobs where your demon then immediately attacks anyways and applies amp to the whole screen to begin with so there isn’t really a need. But if you need to proc amp, death mark is there.

The proc auras sound great theory crafting. But the amount of times where you need it to proc on your schedule… and have it actually proc on your schedule are far less frequently than people want to pretend. So you’re left in the exact same boat as any other aura (or lack of aura).

I’m not saying a proc aura is a negative. It’s just so rarely actually useful that it’s not worth spending 10 minutes farming a cursed demon with one. The miniscule time you save due to the aura will be far outstripped by the time it took you to farm that specific combo.

This. The big demons get stuck on you when you tele, so the pulse damage is probably better

The lancer will immediately find a target when you tele. Its already fast, but if it gets extra fast it is spreading amp just as fast as holy aura just by attacking, so there's no reason to not go fanat

large size enemies can't move as you teleport because they're blocked in every direction by your collision box, while small/medium enemies will run off you after every teleport
whether that's an upside or downside is arguable, urdars being on top of you nonstop means they intercept missiles that would hit you, enemies aggroed on you will run predictably straight at you instead of being pulled away by a demon, and the aoe of blood boil is centered. You can release them to melee attack and pursue targets with either deathmark, or moving your player in any direction (running no teleport). But small/medium mobs like lancers will aggressively pursue enemies between teleports so they help autoaim your blood boil a bit of extra distance, and pull enemies away from you to tank without needing deathmark
