i only have a faith with lvl 12 fana aura - how much ias would i need then?
with lvl 32 BOS


lvl 31 and 32 bos is the same Skill Ias (56)
Lvl 12 fana is: 32 skill ias.

68 ias is then required.

dunno why but i feel like having fana aura and more ias makes me attack slower

Did you put faith on merc? Or urself? Because there is a WSM difference if you put it on urself. But it should still not slow you down as a 0 wsm bow with lvl 12 fana = 32 EIAS boost meanwhile a -30WSM claw without fana is a 30 EIAS boost.
Maby you found a very specific bug?

i put it on my merc and equipped 80% ias on gear (still 2x greater talons) with BOS lvl 32 activated

Okay.

So you had lvl 8 = 43 skill ias. Which bumped EIAS from 70 to 113, meaning you where just 4 shy of the 5 fpa breakpoint.
So ur lvl 8 bos was 6 fpa, ur none bos was 7 fpa.
Now with lvl 31 bos, that adds 56 skill ias. Which means ur EIAS is then: 126. Which should bump it to the 5 fpa frame which starts at 117 EIAS.
To reach 4 fpa you need to increase either bos or ias.
With lvl 31 bos you actually need excactly 200 ias to reach 4 fpa.

A easier test would be a fanatism merc.
Lvl 15 fana = 33 skill ias.
Lvl 31 bos + lvl 15 fana = 33+56 = 89 skill ias.
With 89 skill ias you only need 65 ias to reach 161 EIAS which is the 4fpa break.

Want to know the serial speed for dragon talon?

Incase you want to calc it urself and try out some(excel formula) :
EIAS =FLOOR(120*IAS/(120+IAS)+SkillIas-WSM-SLOW;1)
FANA SKILL IAS =MIN(10 + (FLOOR(30 * ( (110*Slvl) / (Slvl+6) ) / 100;1)); 40)
BOS SKILL IAS =MIN(15 + (FLOOR(45 * ( (110*Slvl) / (Slvl+6) ) / 100;1)); 60)
Kick FPA =CEILING(13*256/FLOOR(256*(100+EIAS)/100;1);1)-1
SerialKick FPA =CEILING(4*256/FLOOR(256*(100+EIAS)/100;1);1)

Metamorphosis mark of the bear is another way of adding another 25 skill ias. Selfwielding beast is a way too(but highest will overwrite).
Kick FPA = the one for dragon tail, also for the last kick of the DT serie.
SerialKick FPA = The fast ones in dragon talon.

someone just told me that dragon tail has a +40 weapon speed malus. is that already factored into your calculations?

You seem to be correct :)
I did not know that about dragon tail.

No 40 EIAS penalty was not included in my calculations.
Found nothing about it on amazon basin wiki, but theese are here. So you need 103 EIAS for 7fpa.
It also explains a lot about visual bugs due to missmatch beftween client side and server side.

Then that makes perfect sence that the cap for EIAS is still 75, but you have 40 penalty. So you need to aim higher :)

Based on the new info:
With bos lvl 4 and 60 ias you reach the 7fpa breakpoint(104 / 64 EIAS).
With no bos and 60ias you reach only 10fpa breakpoint (70 / 30 EIAS).

Which is why you notice huge difference.

There is actually more concerning the Dragon Tail.
Dragon Tail is a sequence attack. All sequence attacks has -30 penalty to WSM.
So the server side actually has a -70 penalty to the output EIAS, meanwhile your client has a -40 penalty as it does not read the sequence penalty.
This creates rubber banding when forexample SHIFT+Click, or holding Dtail down.
A test on singleplayer will return with the -40 EIAS penalty,
meanwhile online it will look faster, enemy HP may go down faster than what it actually does, knockbacks etc from client side may happen on ur end, but can be reverted by server update.
Mana spent may increase, life of monster may jump up again when server refreshes ur client.
