It just means, IF

#1. 10 min dmg - 20 max dmg = 15 average dmg and a succesful hit is guaranteed 10 min damage

#2. 19 min dmg - 20 max dmg = 19.5 average dmg and a succesful hit is guaranteed 19 min damage

over several hits #2 will win

You would compare 10 - 20 to f.e. 5 - 25 and not something straight up better

As for my first/main post stating the game's damage mechanic's absolute truth, a few believed (most players who had played from LoD days)

but many ridiculed, been make fun of, and even calling me stupid or dumb shows how much JSP community has changed.

It used to be constructive and critical but never bad mannered. Mostly shared the same passion for the game in those times.

Honestly, the way you tried to explain why min damage is more important than max damage (which is true for the most part) was nothing but stupid and it made the impression that you are incredibly clueless. Thats not trolling at all, thats honesty.

Min. Damage is better because it dishes out a minimum that delivers a certain consistency whereas max. Damage isnt really doing a lot against trash mobs in most cases. Thats why - in general - weapons with the same average damage are better when the min. Damage value is higher. Thats f.e. why Fury Druids prefer an eBotD Archon Staff over something like a Thunder Maul.

Your "example" that compared a worse with a better value (10-20 vs. 19-20) was absolutely laughable. Comedy Gold.

The main post is the context. And as I said, I just gave an example in the simplest form.

Dude, your example didnt explain ANYTHING, it was just bs. Everybody knows that 19,5 average damage is better than 15.

Also, this isnt a forgotten trivia or a hidden D2 mechanic, its just logic. We ALL knew min. Damage is more important.

When a mob has 100 HP, then the 5 - 230 weapon is obviously worse than the same average damage weapon with a value of 100 - 135. One weapon kills the mob everytime and thats why its better.

So this example is easier to understand?

Weapon 1 min dmg 100 max dmg 500
Weapon 2 min dmg 150 max dmg 450
Both gives an average dmg of 300

Which weapon will give better dmg output

They have the same damage output on average, but weapon 2 does at least 150 damage per hit, which makes it the better choice against most enemies for the reason I explained in my previous post.

At least you used two weapons with the same average this time*lol

When smarter people explained your point for you. You still haven’t made a coherent point or used an appropriate example. :bonk:
