I remember in the olden days, cold master was broken and it didnt effect mobs at all. Did they ever get around to fixing that or we're all wasting our points?

It does have an effect, but does not break cold immunes.
You need infinity most of the time (On your mercenary)

There is tons of fire/cold immunes in hell

Then for classic, he has to diversify his skills and have more than just cold types.
Thats what the sorceress do on classic mode, they are hybrids to get around the immunes

In classic once upon a time before d2r. Cold mastery was BROKEN literally and did nothing to monsters. you did the same damage as you did without it. And you are giving me gameplay advice...
