"Israeli military drops charges against soldiers accused of abusing Palestinian detainee"

In 2024, Israeli military investigators opened a case against several soldiers related to abuses of a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention facility, a site used to hold Palestinians captured during the Gaza war. Five soldiers were charged with aggravated abuse and causing serious bodily harm. The case became widely known after surveillance footage from the facility was leaked showing soldiers taking the detainee aside and surrounding him with riot shields, apparently to conceal what they did to him. The leak was later acknowledged to have been authorised by Yifat Tomer‑Yerushalmi, the Israeli military’s top legal officer at the time. She said she approved the release because public debate had accused military investigators of unfairly targeting soldiers, and she wanted to demonstrate the seriousness of the allegations.

The arrests and investigation triggered intense controversy within Israel. Some far-right politicians and supporters publicly defended the right to rape Palestinians and protested against the soldiers detention, while human-rights organisations argued the incident reflected a broader reality. Tomer-Yerushalmi faced backlash from parts of the political establishment for authorising the leak, and she later resigned from her position after admitting responsibility for releasing the classified footage.

In March 2026, Israeli military prosecutors announced they were dropping the charges against the soldiers.

what worse is that the whistleblower was forced to resign and was then ARRESTED, while the IDF rapists were let go

Quote
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the decision was based in part on the various circumstances, including the complexity of the evidence; the "extremely exceptional and unprecedented circumstances due to conduct by certain senior officials in the Military Advocate General's Corps"; difficulty in transferring investigative material from the police; and the fact that the detainee had been released and allowed to return to Gaza in October.

the issue itself, while terrible, is a window into the culture. the problem is deeply embedded and this is why it is there to stay for at least a generation. there is no cultural will to change.

Soon enough, there will be no culture left to fix for them. Not even a diaspora.

If Bibi is dead, who do you really think took him out as he was escaping to Germany? Assume US intelligence knew he planned on nuking Tehran. There could only be one play to make.

Israel is the strongest country in the region, the only country in the region with Nukes, and Bibi is alive and well. Bibi is a very strong leader of Israel and while he will eventually be replaced (by an even more Hawkish leader). The idea of Israel threatening to Nuke Iran is not new and it was mentioned a few weeks ago. Not the first time Israel indicated this, not the last time.
cheers.

I am not sure if Bibi is in fact alive and well. I won't place a bet on it, but Israeli twitter is full of panic and alarm that he hasn't been seen in 6 days, 7 now? Guess we will see. But no Netanyahu, no nuclear codes. No Samson option. No total annihilation of Iran.

Threats given to the public are different than threats passed on between heads of state and through intelligence.

You over estimate Israel and underestimate a nation filled with people ready to die for their cause. Iran has virtually no lose condition outside of total destruction and genocide. Western powers on the other hand only need be attacked economically and structurally for the cracks to begin to show. Another thing. Iran is not in this alone.

2 days ago he gave a press conference. he is alive and well. its just fake news, we get stuff like this all the time in the Russia thread "Russia has lost 1 million men" "Russia wants to invade Poland and Germany". A combined force of US and Israel has attacked Iran and is systematically destroying Iran's military launch sites (etc). This is a fact. You say no lose condition, I say Win/Loss condition is subjective. If you go into another person's house and trash the house, I would say the house is trashed.

I am aware of the fake news going around. I am not basing my hypothesis on those. I did see the video as well, which proves nothing considering the lack of specifics presented leads one to believe it was potentially pre-recorded.

My thoughts are based on conversations translated from Hebrew on x from Israeli based accounts, in addition to other factors such as Netanyahu's son going from 50-100 tweets a day to near to total silence since Bibi's disappearance. The Israeli's have no idea where he is.

Granted, he is probably hiding out in Germany. But considering the censorship and lies being told from both Israel and the US in regards to injuries, casualties, and damage to vessels, I would take what is presented authoritatively with a grain or two of salt.
