You definitely want/need Cursed. That means it applies amplify damage (red fire) over the heads of bad guys to break immunities and deal more physical damage. It'll say "Cursed" on his info panel.

Fanatacism gives you more damage + helps your merc and demon deal more damage.

Holy freeze is the other popular aura, since it applies the curse (amplify damage) to basically the entire screen at once.

When you bind your demon, it keeps its affixes and stats until it dies or you release it. So, when there is a Terror Zone active in River of Flame, he will be higher level / have an extra affix, so that's a better demon to bind if you can find him then.

I personally didn't like holy freeze because it makes it harder for a barb horker, so I went Cursed affix + Fanatacism aura (red aura), for max damage.

You wanted cursed + a pulse aura so he auto-amps the screen. If you go fana, it can take 5 seconds for him to cast amp. Amp increases your dmg x3. You WANT to be doing 3x your damage the moment you start attacking, which only a pulse aura like Holy Fire/Shock/Freeze provides. If you do not have Enigma, bind Death Mark to throw him in, it's like casting Amp on the mob yourself immediately.

Do not listen to any other advice.

So if you find a decent heph and then use a shard will he keep the same aura+?

I don't think already-spawned enemies turn into TZ enemies when you use a shard.
