I don't think Israel cares about regime change or not. At the end of the day if Iran is left in a Libya like state with warring factions killing themselves for decades, it's a win for them. This rhetoric about helping the oppressed masses of Iran is largely a propaganda point to sell the interventions.

pretty much my view.

Do you honestly believe that after this conflict Iran will be a better place? for the people living there? I think US/Israeli mission creep is going to end up like a pile of crap all over the floor. Each bomb is going to radicalize more and more Iranians.

anyway, very early days. I dont see the trajectory reversing.

Look, it's fine to want to destroy your enemy. Israel has that right. But understand they also have that right.

ONE. HUNDRED. PERCENT. AGREE.

they dont want it regime changed, that's actually worse for them. they want it broken and in pieces with it's missiles either used up or sold off. basically a USSR collapse on a smaller scale.

Phase 2 of this war once most of the launchers are buried will likely involve funding various groups. Azeris in the north, Kurds in the northwest. Whatever is left of IRGC will basically constantly get bombed from the sky while you have these other groups keeping them busy internally and on their borders. By then, Iran's ability to project outward is going to be so severely degraded. In all of this it's likely many civilians will die as collateral damage and/or starve as food, water deliveries break.

IRGC would love for a real detente that's lasting to be announced, but they're not dumb. They know if there is a deal it will be broken again and their leadership will continuously and endlessly be taken out. This is absolutely an existential threat for them.

with a population double that of Iraq, where 1 million died in the 2nd war, i'd expect at least a million die in Iran too. especially if all we do is bomb for the first phase and continue bombing for the second phase too.

all that talk about the pre-revolution Iran which was almost western and a progressive state for Islam. gone. its gonna be a rubble heap of future terrorists.

My brother is stranded in Dubai and unable to return home to his family. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
