Do I really need to further explain?
Gamble - close window - gamble.
Ok so in D2R you state everyone has access to a baseline gold cap of 10 million gold across their main stash & their 3 Shared Stash tabs.
In OG days in D2 if you gambled all of this gold in one hit you would get temp ban. I know this could happen because it did happen. If some other chars would come in/mule and gold dump for you to repetitively gamble you couldn't go flatout doing that. Likely because of the extra clicking you would have to do or D2 just had a cap on how much you could spam Gheed because of bots. So the optimal gambling would be to clear out once you hit a decent amount not when you maxed out all your chars...like I said you clear out after 5 trav runs or so.
And stash size did matter. Lets say you have 3 or 4 really low trav runs. Instead of chilling out for 10min it was more optimal to have a higher GF items in the stash and do a slower run.
So now in your stash you got edge, tomb reaver, wealth, 2x extra GCs or 4x extra scs instead of the cube. You also needed this if you wanted to hork a MASSIVE gold stash and get back to dueling because duels require ALOT of repairs. GF barbs went hand in hand with dueling guilds too especially BVB ones.
Now you have to consider leveling up. No tokens. So if you are joining a full c/baal game or doing higher areas for xp solo you need a few extra items in stash. Bo helm, +3 warcry amy, demon limb to buff so everything doesn't die.
Otherwise you couldn't level your char unless you did this with a different build with one of the 3x reset options or botted it first which was kinda cheating. The 3x reset options were vital to keep for the GF build if you found an item upgrade like a GF amy with higher str or something. So you didn't want to sacrifice those reset options for leveling.
So now your stash is filling. But it fills even more when you gamble with edge you have 2x crystal swords to swap out also. And you have to swap out 2x gcs and 2x scs to gamble sacred armors or if you get 2x circlets in one gamble screen.
Now your stash is maxing out. Not much space left for drops/flawless gems or anything.
Stash space never mattered for shit when gambling. Ever. You had plenty of space to put in all your GCs and swap out an Edge. If you're talking about Classic, charms weren't even in there, so it was a complete non-issue.
There was also never any temp ban for gambling quickly. The temp bans were due to network-level interactions (i.e: rapid game creation, hourly games per CDkey, reconnecting way too fucking fast after dropping). I have no idea where you're getting this weird shit. Maybe your connection just sucked ass and you dropped and tried to remake too fast, but that's not a cap on gambling speed once in-game. Or maybe you used some script to click too quickly; but human-speed input to gamble (or even a bot set to reasonable input timings) would never trigger this shit. This was never a relevant constraint.
Leveling and no tokens pre 1.13 was also a non-issue. Everyone had 129182108210 characters. If you had a Goldfind Barb, it was a Goldfind Barb. It wasn't a Pitzerker + a Baal runner + CS Frenzy/WW runner, etc. The beauty of D2 was (and still is) that you get to specialize characters for very specific tasks if you want.
You had mules. Flawless Gems were a non-issue. Good items were a non-issue. You could make a private game & drop that shit if you wanted, or even join a pub and corner drop that shit behind Charsi; no one is going to hunt down your Flawless Amethysts.
I understand that you've probably popped a shitload of nostalgia pills this week, and memory lane is dark and full of terrors, but I have zero idea what you're on about.
