How exactly does it work?

I know Blood Oath has a 40% cap and only Hard Points count, so far so good.

What if I'd also use items like SS or Shako to reach the initial 50% Physical DR Cap?

Does that mean I'd have 90% pdr and 40% dr for all other sources of damage by just putting 20 points into Blood Oath and wearing a few easy to come by items?

I might even add flat damage reduction and make myself almost immune to any physical attack..is that how this works?

Or does it not stack?

so the damage is first calculated off your gear and stats, then a portion of that is sent to your demon

Oh, I see. So that means for example:

I receive 1000 physical damage and 100 fire damage.

My gear reduces the physical damage to 500 (50% Dr) and fire damage to 25 because of the 75% res.

Now max. Blood Oath reduces the physical damage from 500 to 300 and the fire damage to 15.

Would that be correct?

I knew blood oath was capped at 40% but we sure only hard points count towards the DR? First I’ve heard of that.

Yup
You get 5% dmg reduce if you have 1 hard point and +19 skills.
43% dmg reduce if you have 20 hard points no +skills.
43% dmg reduce if you have 20 hard points and +19 skills.

Since you are here and your knowledge is typically pretty awesome: was my "math" right in my example?

500 gets reduced to 500*0.57=285

25 gets reduced to 25*0.57=14.25 (unknown if rounded up or down)

Also not 100% confirmed if the dmg is redirected after all forms of dmg reductions, but it does work on top of res/dr.

I thought it caps at 40 and not 43% despite what the tool tip says?
