ahhh thanks for this! So when i enter a new area and it spawns its just because a champ is spawned close to me
Yes its basically the same idea as how diablo clone spawns, except replacing champion/uniques instead of only superuniques.
It only matters when the game is loading in mobs on newly explored tiles, which is a 3 screen radius and if you're moving its only that sliver-moon shape at the edge of your current exploration, but you enter a new area and a huge amount spawns in at once and each can roll to be replaced
It sure looked to me like P8 also increased the rate of replacing mobs because in P1 I'd have a lot of teleporting around with ire drawn and no herald spawned, but in P8 its virtually instantaneous if I just teleport a few screens and first champion/unique spawns in
also I imagine the gloom trick is a good idea because of how long you'll spend in game / other items you can find, but it doesn't affect chances of sunder dropping does it? Its its own treasure class
still makes sense if you want better chance at high end uniques along the way
