I thought the max was 5 Heralds per game???

I just counted 8x it was summoned in one game.

Got all 8 still nothing good lol

Heralds can keep summoning indefinitely, but they cap out at tier 5 (herald of terror) at which point they have the highest stats / highest droprate

Its a stupid fucking mechanic that works like this;
>every time you kill unique or champion mob, you get a % chance to draw ire of a herald which now targets you the player who got the last hit. apparently scales with playercount, and is as low as 2% in P1, presumably less per champion
>once ire is drawn, each champion/unique that would be spawned onto the map has a chance to be replaced by a herald (3 screen radius of yet-unexplored map AND must roll a unique/champion). Again whatever %
>(this remains targeting you in the whole game any tz you enter, so easiest way to proc it is to enter an unexplored map and teleport around)
>each herald spawned increases count for entire game session +1, and only tier 3-5 heralds start dropping sunders as a higher rate drop

The drop rates are so pathetic that you're more likely to get a high rune

1/60 in P8 is not bad though.
With a horker with 75% item find that is what 1/33.3 chance?

We already found multiple. And some of the "seeds" seem to spawn a lot of these guys. Getting up into the 20s per game.

compared to the deterministic grind for anni/torches/tokens this is absolute cancer, and even the onerous uber facets are less rng dependent
you essentially have to buy/farm shards and burn them to power up 5+ heralds, but then unlike all the other uber quests it:
  • mandatory requires 5-8 player games to have any real chance and can't be done by a solo player without loaders
  • requires loader or multi player setup if you want optimal chances by horking it
  • has a high chance to whiff and burn all your time and investment with nothing to show for it


and I just traded off a latent I got earlier today but I'm under no illusion, its dumb
anyone can farm keys on a solo account shoestring budget and do it in pubs if they want, and then kill ubers with a budget smiter. People plan their uber setups on day 1 of ladder to reap a profit, but here we've got the "take an entire team and see whether you can farm more sunders or high runes because of these abysmal drop rates"

I've had the opposite luck lately. No heralds spawning. Not sure if there's a hotfix or a change in the way they work but i haven't seen any in the past few hours. I'm not a huge fan of the way the patch requires you to leave the game running 24/7 to hit 5 and continue killing lvl 5 heralds. They need to patch it to work differently. Reminds me of dailies being stuck online when you'd rather play at your own pace. The drop rate is also far too low. This season seems to be more testing than something that's been tested. Broken echoing and broken heralds.

Also if they wanted you to stay in one game to keep high level heralds you'd think there would be a feature to reset the mobs in a zone without reseting the game and hence the herald level.

As others have stated it shouldn't require an 8man team.
