North Korea said the same thing and yet the US didnt do anything. whats the difference? North Korea has nukes so the US just sucks it up and leaves North Korea alone. I am not arguing in favor of North Korea, or Iran, I am saying if you keep invading countries eventually something will go wrong. By any measure Iran getting enough Nukes would result in the same outcome - being left alone. But Iran has oil so the US would prefer to steal the oil, and it needs its own government in Iran to do that, therefore Iran cannot be allowed to have the ability to defend itself.
What's the difference you ask? Simple: for decades, Iran has been funding various proxies which spread terror, conflict and war across the entire region, North Korea has not. The North Koreans engage in inconsequential saber-rattling against South Korea, but otherwise, the North Korean regime is highly hermitic and mostly wants to be left alone. The regime in Iran, on the other hand, is outwardly aggressive, constantly seeking to expand its political, religious and military influence in the region.
Obama tried the carrot, relaxing sanctions on Iran in return for mild, good-faith-based cooperation from Teheran with regard to its nuclear program. What did the Mullahs do with their increased financial breathing room? Did they use it to feed their destitute people or build up their infrastructure and industry? Hell no, they immediately used the financial breathing room to ramp up their support for Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and various groups in Syria and Iraq. Their proxies carried out the Oct7 attack on Israel and the ongoing attacks on global shipping routes near Yemen.
Fast forward to 2026: Trump tried the opposite approach and showed them the stick, coupled with a clear demand: get serious about giving up your nuclear ambitions. Teheran basically flat out told him "no". And that's mere weeks after the last hopes for an organic political change coming from inside of Iran were drowned out in gunfire.

I'm currently highly unsure how this campaign will go, or whether pulling this trigger was a good or bad idea to begin with. Time will tell. So it's not like I'm
thrilled by these developments. Nonetheless, there is a very clear and obvious rationale behind Israel and the US pulling the trigger now; nobody can argue in good faith that the Mullahs didn't have it coming.
