A wellfare state is an objectively bad thing, especially if the state uses all of it's resources to take care of it's citizens without actually producing, working or making things. When you just take, take, take eventually nothing is left.

While I've relied on government assistance in the past and I'm not one to knock people for being down on hard times, I also understand that people are smart and will flock to the path of least resistance. It's nearly impossible to get off wellfare when the more you make the more they take. You literally lose money by working until a certain point.

The government, no matter the country, no matter the people, no matter the situation, will always be inefficient, corrupt, and do things in some of the most suboptimal ways possible.

it's a ressource argument in denmark at the moment. If you have an unemployed bank teller, with a financial degree and he loses his job and is forced into a new one immediately (like cleaner or baker or whatever) because of high rent, or cost of living the ressources of this person is not being used optimally and his entire education and cost of education is then potentially wasted. So the argument is that he will go on government support until a role that fits his skill is open and then everybody "wins". This ofc is not how it always work out.

The argument that the state is the worst and then at the same time say Denmark should initiate drilling for oil and open mines in Greeland despite it being the most inefficient, corrupt and suboptimal way of doing it? Doesn't make sense.

now i will say denmark will experience the issues far slower than other european nations, your migration is low enough and native population high enough that you wont break down nearly as fast as the UK, Germany, or even Sweden. but its still going to come. i give it 50 years at most until you've basically shut off migration entirely to maintain the welfare state. you can have a welfare state, or large scale migration, but you cant have both. especially in the automated world thats coming.
