Way back, while in college, to keep our cats off of the textbook(s) or pages we needed while studying, we had to place boxes on the desk or table. They would lay in those rather than on top of everything that we needed to study from.

A cat is really just a homeless person that is granted the power to transform into a cat. By doing this, most of them get a home, food, and some love. Any and all cats you see on the streets are just actors and not actually on the streets, whatsoever. Some are even holograms, from what I've read.

Holograms 'fur' sure. They have an uncanny way of popping in and out of this and other dimensions.

They're hackers, but they hack life itself IMO. It's clear as day. The Matrix even hinted at it because their creators knew of the power of cats. One of the only things that could've overpowered Neo is a powerful interdimensional kitten, but they didn't put it in any of the movies as an enemy because they didn't want Neo looking like a little bitch.
