Buddy, you're comparing a guy who was their 4th best guard this season not even in the rotation to a rookie starting SG averaging 15 PPG who has shined all season. This isn't really a comparison.
McCain shined last season when everyone was out injured. He put up absurd numbers during that stretch, but it was also losing ball on a bad team. Impressive run but this season looked awful off that injury. VJ is actually having an impact on a winning team alongside other star players and still managing to stand out (hitting game winners, great defense, etc).
Plus, we had concerns all along with Maxey and McCain backcourt fit since they're both smaller guards. You can't really play them together all the time, but with VJ they have more size and elite athleticism. It's an ideal backcourt partner to Maxey.
