The laws are immaterial concepts in our head that we assign to the actual physical/material phenomenon based on our observation to help us identify them.
I wouldn't use the term "believe in" since it implies I just accept something without proof which is what faith is. I would use terms like know or have understanding.
In your loaded question you misidentified science and critical thinking as some kind of god worship. It isn't you do not worship science you simply use it like a tool those tools (scientific theories) change and get constantly updated. You are not stuck with bronze age ideas you grow and adapt. There is no punishment of everlasting torture and there are no fake promises of virgins waiting for you when you die. There is simply that which works and that which doesn't work.
Stop drinking the kool-aid and come join proof based thinkers we wont sell you magical stories. There is no hopium in our world we don't waste our energy on things that cannot be proven or disproven. We focus on the things that can.
How do you know that the chair you are sitting on won't suddenly collapse on you? Just because it worked the last 1,000 times doesn't necessarily mean it won't happen this time.
Would you sit on the edge of the table with confidence it won't topple over? You have no idea of knowing unless you try. Yet if it does topple over you won't enjoy the outcome.
I tell you why. It's because of Faith. You put your Faith into something that it will do the thing it's intended to do. You can have all the faith in the world but that table may still topple. It's about what you put your Faith in. If I tell you something that happened with me yesterday or 10 years ago, you don't have any way to verify that. There is a degree of faith you have that what I am saying is true.
I have Faith that Luke's account based on eye witnesses is true as he went out and did all the research and investigations. Here we can simply read his findings. That is Faith.
What do you put your Faith in when you want to be somewhere in 10 Years time? You can't see it now but your Faith will keep you going.
Romans 8:24-25 ESV
24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
