There was a game earlier this season when Sengun took it full court on Giannis for the game-winning basket.
When Sengun is highly motivated he can out-play Giannis. Like he was at EuroBasket last summer and this game.



The problem with Alperen Sengun is he needs that mamba mentality. A killer instinct. He needs that Shaq inside of him.
He has a Nikola Jokic skill set. But Sengun doesn't seem to want to be the best. If he wanted to be the best he could be.

You had seen it in the playoffs vs. Warriors last year. Sengun was awesome one minute then disappeared when Draymond bullied him.

Normally I wouldn't even entertain trading two young rising all-star talents who are both 23 for a 31-year-old superstar. 8 years is a lot.

This summer is going to be very interesting. But I must stress any big changes I want to see are only if the Houston Rockets get bounced in the first round yet again. There's always a small possibility they could make a surprise run to the 2026 NBA Finals. At least reach the 2026 Western Conference Finals. Although if they run into the OKC Thunder in the second round nobody is going to give them a chance to win 4 games. I know their odds would be way better if they had Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams.

But Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Sheppard can always get red hot and carry the offense. Kevin Durant may play some of his best basketball in the playoffs as well. I wouldn't say the Rockets have no chance to win in the playoffs. It's just they're missing some ball handling and toughness. Which VanVleet and Adams provided. Those are two things you absolutely need in the playoffs.

Sigh. I'm bored because the NBA all-star weekend has become a joke. It's gotten as bad as the NFL Pro Bowl. The MLB all-star game is still decent.

Spurs believe they can build a dynasty with Wemby and Castle. Mavericks can afford to rebuild for the long haul around Flagg.
The Rockets are the team with elite young talent that may be more willing to make a big move this summer. But we'll find out.
Houston also has the Suns unprotected first in 2027 and 2029. Ability to swap with Mavericks 2029 unprotected first as well.
