Yes you have to buy the DLC to play it.

Well you can decide to keep your current characters in LOD. To stay PVPing etc there.
I might be keeping mine NL there. And start from scratch in the new ladder.

Then I need more character slots lol... 😢

And who knows if the new char is cool for pvp all gonna convert? 🤔😎

Drop all of the items to lod mules on the account you are getting DLC on.
Starting converting those mules with those items on them.
