No, you can’t gift it to Bnet. You need to already have a character on MoP. Even if you’re not subbed, someone can mail you gold, then you can buy a token with it. Same for Retail. If you don’t have a char on either, you can’t get anything

If you have gold in your mailbox or on your characters, or a token in your character’s bags, you will be able to reactivate your account using the option on the character selection screen. Additionally, the option to start a recurring subscription is available from: http://battle.net/account (click on Settings > Payments & Subscriptions) You can also see if any of your friends can gift you game time from:

last time someone mailed me gold here, about 2 years ago- I was temp banned on b.net and lost the gold, so I'm not sure how good that would work.
