Which one do I need to purchase for the D2r version.
Should I spend $9.99 on D2 then $9.99 on LoD expansion?
Or is there an option to just buy the D2r? Which would include both d2 and LoD? I’m so confused. Thanks.

D2r isn’t d2 and Lod, your looking at legacy.

D2r is a single game

As post #2 said, they are separate games. You don't need D2 + LOD if you want D2r.

But if I buy D2r will I still have access to everything the legacy has?

No. You have the option to go into legacy graphics, but its not the same game. D2r has new runewoeds and overall different updates than d2lod

A better answer would be yes. You get everything plus more. In other words, you will not be missing out on anything if you get d2r. There are still legacy fans, but new players will enjoy d2r far more. Especially with the warlock just released.

I honestly don’t even think I’ll buy the expansion for a while. I’m just gonna get the d2r infernal, try it out for a season or so then maybe get the new warlock expansion.

Infernal has the base d2r game and RotW.

I hope this clarifies things and makes things less confusing for you.

Diablo 2 was released on June 28, 2000 - https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/diablo-ii
(This game is legacy)
Diablo 2 LOD was released as an expansion for Diablo 2 on June 29, 2001 - https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/diablo-ii-lord-of-destruction?p=464&pfm=diablo-ii-family-page-classic-games
(This game is legacy)

Both Diablo 2 and Diablo 2 LOD are considered LEGACY

D2R (Diablo 2 resurrected) [a remaster of both games together made as one game] was released on September 23, 2021. The added new expansion Reign of The Warlock (RoTW) was added to game on Blizzard's / Battle.Net's website as a one package deal - https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/diablo_ii_resurrected
