If bored, explain why you like one more than the other. I personally like Lord of the Rings better because it just seemed more epic. Most of the movies are really just full of walking around with beautiful scenery and amazing music, but I like the story much more. Harry Potter was good too, but it's still a step down from Lord of the Rings. Also, I think Gandalf was a way cooler character than Dumbledore.

If you haven't watched either, then I suggest you take the time to do so. Both of these series are worth watching.

LOTR wins because the books and movies hold up over time.

HP books were good, and the movies were good, but the only reason I would return to them would be a shared experience with a kid if I had one.

Entertainment is subjective. One can't simply hold the title of being better than the other.

The Harry Potter franchise made more money, objective. What someone enjoyed more? Subjective.

Seen the entirety of both, both are true to everyone's opinion of it.

HP is way better. I always end up rewatching them once a year but never find myself going back to LOTR. Plus HP has 8 movies, all with the same reoccurring cast.

Actually, not all of the characters had the same recurring cast. For example, Dumbledore was played by: Richard Harris (movies 1-2), Michael Gambon (movies 3-8), and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts).

Yeah I forgot to mention dumbledore, never noticed michael, also was only Counting the original HP not Fantastic beasts. (ive watched the first 2 but can't get into them as much as HP)

Harry Potter is solely writing that is based on a lucrative business model by someone who turned out to be an a**hole.
LotR is born from the passion of a writer who desired to write stories that he would love to read and that are for an adult audience who love Fantasy.
