A few days ago someone suggested I was not a native english speaker (post #22) when I questioned the use of the word "should". I proceeded to clarify whether "
COULD" was the more appropriate word for the situation. I side stepped the implication accepting that discrediting a posters use of the English language is a debating tactic, and its a waste of time responding.
Thankfully the opportunity to return to this point has arrived! The TIME article leads with: "As many as 30,000 people
COULD have been killed in the streets of Iran on Jan. 8 and 9" What this is highlighting is that this is an unverified claim, and until it has been
verified I am sitting on the fence.
Finally, this claim, published by TIME, is the claim in all 5 links that you provided, and if you look at all 5 links, you will see that they all point back to TIME, and not their own sources. TIME had the decency to state "TIME has been unable to independently verify these figures." but was happy for everyone to jump on the bandwagon.
The timing of this article when noting that the US appears to be preparing to attack Iran, is quite suspect.
