Ya know a few years ago the idea of citizens taking up arms and stalking federal agents for enforcing the law, following and menacing them- is the kind of stuff you'd expect of scruffy bearded guys on a compound soon to be raided by special forces under Janet Reno's orders.
They are trying to put up barricades in the streets again while businesses in the area are boarding up windows
Then some snarky liberals turn around and say see, what about those 2nd amendment don't tread on me militias you guys love so much, as if moderate america ever once thought those guys were anything but fruitcakes to begin with
People are trying to figure out just how far they can push the line in confrontations, we've got folks open carrying rifles to intimidate ICE, people trying to assemble databases of names and addresses and family members, why would any sane rational law abiding moderate person think those are the good guys of these stories?
A civil society can only exist when people give each other a respectful berth. There's no magic system of government that survives when parties try to min/max for every possible partisan advantage with no holds barred because it will inevitably become a tyranny, and likewise no community can exist if everyone is at each other's throats and only trying to abide by technical legal limits and see how far they can push them, because instead of just having a wanton violent purge we have a passive aggressive purge. Just juxtapose the idea of prior intent and seeking conflict being used to argue for or against deadly force in self defense. In the Allen Scarsella shooting, he was minding his own business across the street from a rally, a mob targeted him, chased him blocks and he tried to flee and escape them and fulfilled MN's duty to retreat, but still got 20 years in prison 'because he brought a gun to a rally'. Then we turn around and say, the video could potentially show the guy who armed himself and went to confront and obstruct ICE agents was maybe disarmed for a fraction of a second prior to being shot in the chaos, so its not justified.
