What is your sentiment about ICE's conduct in the videos available prior to any gunshots?
Overly aggressive and in over their heads. But that doesn't surprise me, they are thrust into an impossible situation: subjected to constant whistling, provocations and harassment all day long, something that ICE agents afaik aren't really trained for because it normally doesn't happen during their operations.
I think the blame for this situation should really be directed at the political leaders on both sides of the aisle:
The Trump admin bears some of the blame because they unleash badly trained LEOs, but then throw them to the wolves by putting them in the situation described above, in which they're set up for failure or tragic mistakes, instead of putting normal police officers or the national guard with them to watch their back, so that the ICE agents can actually do their job. The Trump admin is clearly shying away from the bad optics of federalizing the MN NG and having them crack down on the demonstrators which obstruct enforcement or harass agents.
Tim Walz, Jacob Frey and Dem leaders bear blame because they intentionally stoke these protests, direct the Minneapolis PD to not cooperate with ICE and egg on the protestors to provoke and harass the ICE agents. They are throwing these idealistic activists to the wolves by encouraging them to behave irrationally and risky in front of LEOs, setting them up for tragic killings, and it's all done out of a cynical calculus. For Walz, Frey et al., this shooting is like hitting the jackpot. Saps Trump's political capital, energizes their base ahead of the midterms, turns public opinion against immigration enforcement and distracts from the gigantic fraud scandal they are tied into.
