1st time building a nova sorc. what’s gear is the best on a budget and high end ?

i play pc/ non ladder softcore

FIRST! Someone will correct my mistakes (I hope)

I just made one and they die instantly if energy shield runs out. This character, IMO, is trash w/ budget gear so I won’t include those options.

Best gear =

Self wield infinity in an ethereal scythe

Griffins eye

Vipermagi

2x stone of Jordan

Magefist

Rare/craft amulet w/ sorc skills, 10%fcr or more, psn res, psn length reduced, mana, life are all good adds

Rare/craft boots w/ 30%frw and same adds as ammy. or silkweaves.

This character uses 3 different weapon swaps.

Cta + splendor on switch

And find a 4os staff w/ +3 energy shield (+3 to frozen armor is great add) and make a memory runeword. If you don’t want an oopsie, equip this staff and cast energy shield WHILE IN TOWN!!!!. I’ve seen my homies RIP at multiple WPs while going for barb Bo before casting ES

Psn res scs (if your boots and ammy can’t get you to 75)

I went with gloom for ctc dim vision on struck. CoH would be nice for leech too


Skills:

20 nova
20 telekenisis
20 static (this is the synergy right?)
20 (or less) Energy shield. Needs to hit lvl 40 total.
U can put the rest into warmth and maybe thunderstorm.

Stats:

All energy.

Notes:

u don’t need resists, except for poison. The game doesn’t factor resists into the energy shield math.

Certain bad guys can really hurt u. Those Misshapen that shoot the lightning balls. The venom lords that shoot inferno. Dolls. Witches can cast the blood mana curse where you hurt yourself each time you cast a spell. Souls/gloams are by far the worst. Any mana burn is rough too

Maybe you’re right about the amulet tho, especially if you play soft core

cleansing from cure, meditation from insight and prayer from his own aura gives you infinite life, mana and qol. coh is used as a source of ll

andy + forti is generally a bad choice in d2r as very few builds rely on mercs doing damage since the introduction of sunder charms

I’m curious if you’ve ever tried a defensive approach, aiming for high DR/MDR? So, instead of infinity scythe, can you use gerke’s and light eschutas (or a +6 nova 20fcr 2os orb with facets if you’re rich enough to afford one) ? This is for HC obviously.

I play HC too (single player and ladder)!!! My gurl has almost died 1,000x but I only need 9 more bars (d2r) til she can retire. Naw, I’ve never tried the defensive approach of using those safer items. It kinda reminds me of that g bane/gerkes immortal sorc. I did consider dropping a mal or a Ber or a p sapphire in the Vipermagi and griffs but I went with facets instead.

Despite the offensive items, I’ve got the defensive approach in my play style. Even though she can teleport straight into most packs without a problem, I find myself continually flipping the switch to turn up the nova blender and just letting all the enemies walk into their own doom.

So this is your personal choice right? Well other people have their own right? So stop stomping on other player choices, shit even a Holy Freeze merc is beneficial with either Insight / Infinity / Pride with Fort / treachery / Bramble / E Skulders / Shaftstop etc with Guillames / Andys / Tarnhelm etc ... there are many ways for a player to utilize their merc to their play style.

So what if it doesn't meet your (YOUR) requirements, you are just a noob and only have 1 opinion out of the rest of players, you are DRUNK on your own hype every time you post insults to others asking for advice.

Give advice without criticism. Hey, I do the same thing, but I am trying my hardest not to, however I will retaliate when given certain comments, and the OP here asked for advice, yet you say they are Drunk with this and that, well, you are Drunk on your own hype noob.
