We would be doing them a big favor even if they can't see it.
The narrative outlined above ignores some basic facts:
1. The U.S. and U.K. dismantled Iran’s fledgling democracy, installing a dictator who oppressed his people at their behest while controlling Iran’s oil.
2. The West did not “welcome unrest” — it actively created it through bombings, sanctions, and covert operations, even inciting terror on the ground.
3. If a society with thousands of years of history is “broken,” it’s worth asking who actually broke it (see point 1).
4. Framing conflict as inherent to Iranian culture ignores points 1–3 entirely.
5. Overwhelming force is treated as standard U.S. and Israeli doctrine; much of the world sees the human cost and questions its efficacy.
6. Madeleine Albright famously said after half a million Iraqi children died under sanctions, “we think the price is worth it.” In Gaza, 70,000+ deaths were rationalized. What hope is there for Iran?
7. Finally, resource extraction is treated as justified — it’s not Iranian oil, it’s “U.S. oil.” The same logic has been applied in Venezuela.
