During the Yom Kippur War (October 6–26, 1973), Israel faced a sudden attack by Egypt and Syria. Prime Minister Golda Meir authorized preparing nuclear weapons as a last-resort contingency, serving as a signal of resolve to influence U.S. support. The United States responded with Operation Nickel Grass, a massive resupply of weapons and supplies, and raised its alert to DEFCON III. The war ended with a conventional military victory, but the episode demonstrated Israel’s ability to use nuclear signaling to shape U.S. action in a crisis.
On June 21–22, 2025, after years of regional conflict, Israel targeted Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility. Unable to strike it with conventional weapons alone, Israel reportedly relied on signaling to encourage the U.S. to conduct the strike. Analysts suggest Israel may have implied it could take stronger measures, recalling the 1973 precedent, though there is no verified evidence of an actual nuclear threat. The U.S. strike caused significant damage but did not fully destroy Iran’s nuclear program.
Between December 2025 and January 2026, Iran faced severe economic destabilization, reportedly coordinated by foreign actors including the U.S. and Israel, highlighting how Israel leverages pressure and signaling to influence U.S. actions. On January 14, 2026, the U.S. indicated it would not conduct further strikes. On January 15, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred near an Israeli nuclear facility, which some analysts interpreted as a statement of intent to the U.S., signaling that Israel expected continued support and action in the conflict with Iran.
To my mind, and based on alot of evidence, The leader of Israel has a life goal of removing Iran from the equation. It is now or never.
